Hi Ed, welcome to NeuroTalk. Thank you for sharing your story with us.

A couple of thoughts.

I understand your frustration, and I'm sure it seems like forever, but 12 weeks is not all that long in recovering from a brain injury.

I'd suggest that blaming yourself is not productive. You fell on some ice. I walked in front of a moving train. As we go through life stuff happens. The important thing now is how to best recover and move forward.

The more you can tell us about yourself the better NT members will be able to help with advice and experience. Additionally, there are brain injury resources in most states.

Hopefully your new neurologist will have additional ideas for you in regards to therpies that can help resolve your symptoms.

Recovery is a journey. Best to you as you proceed.

What Happened: On November 29, 2010, I was walking across the street and was hit by a light rail commuter train. Result was a severe traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures (skull, pelvis, ribs). Total hospital stay was two months, one in ICU followed by an additional month in neuro-rehab. Upon hospital discharge, neurological testing revealed deficits in short term memory, executive functioning, and spatial recognition.

Today: Neuropsychological examination five months post-accident indicated a return to normal cognitive functioning, and I returned to work approximately 6 months after the accident. I am grateful to be alive and am looking forward to enjoying the rest of my life.
