It might be Optic Neuritis. When I had it I had pain in my eye although it wasn't stabbing pain. More like aching pain when I moved my eye. But I'm sure it's different for everyone.....just like MS......

I'd go to the Neuro as soon as possible. I didn't take anything for mine and it lasted about six weeks. Steroids are probably a possibility especially if you're working and need to get it cleared up as soon as possible.
