North Carolina is a hot humid place from late april through october. They also have been getting more snow there the last few years than we have gotten here in NY. It wouldnt be my first pick for weather.
New Mexico in the Santa Fe area has a pretty moderate climate. not too hot in the summer. not too cold in the winter and its dry. Its actually a quite beautiful area. It also has many cultural institutions in the area.
Its also not good to be isolated so there is that. There are pluses and minuses with everything.
