Oh, yes. Dermatomes are tissue maps that show how various tissues arise from the developing embryo. The nerves that grow out from the spine follow certain pathways in the body to the limbs etc.

This article is about specific nerve clusters along blood vessels in the palms of the hand that seem to control blood flow. That some people have more of these than others.
