Not sure if I understand the question, but... PN can be characterized as either/both a condition or symptom complex comprised of other symptoms. It is damage to nerves of the peripheral nervous system, which may be caused either by diseases of or trauma to the nerve or the side effects of systemic illness. So, it feels like it feels regardless of the cause, including nerve compression of/near the spine.
