Default Heartburn-not going away

About 2 weeks ago out of the blue, I started having extreme heartburn. The Dr. prescribed Prilosec, which provides 'some' relief, but not completely. I'm also using Tagamet(non-prescription) before bed.

I take scrupulous care of myself, as I'm 10 months post tx for HCV, I drink lots of water, avoid fatty, salty and sugery food; only have 1 cup coffee per day, and get a sufficient amount of exercise & sleep.

I have periodic endoscopic exams for HCV related varicies of the esophagus, and during such exam was found to have a benign stomach tumor.

I am wondering if there is a connection between the sudden onset of excess stomach acid, and the stomach tumor?
