Smile Greetings!

Hi Susie!

Greetings and welcome to NeuroTalk! I think you will find many members here supportive and friendly. When I was new to the site, I was hesitant to post. But the more I read the posts of other members (some visitors too) it became easier to share my experiences. Working with my neurologists is key, NeuroTalk is a great comfort to me. Although I am not familiar with febrile seizures, I do have experience with epilepsy from an early age.

I have seizures secondary to a TBI from an auto accident in childhood, I was 9-years old. My seizures came without warning and yes, fevers were present as well as nausea. Back then I took dilantin, which helped, but a huge part was recognizing the triggers for me - bright sunshine, classroom lighting, buzz from overhead florescents, being too hungry, and whenever I did not get enough sleep.... well the next day was rough. Reading was most troublesome, letters danced on the pages. In teenage years these symptoms subsided. In adulthood I still am very aware of my auras and triggers, act appropriately. It still now is difficult to capture a seizure on an EEG.

Like Ginnie posted, going to the doctor or hospital or epilepsy center is important when necessary. I am comforted knowing neuro has evaluated my status.

Hope this post helps a bit, and I send prayers and support your way. Best wishes to you and your son. See you around NeuroTalk.
