It IS ok to take some aspirin or tylenol for your headache. It won't interact with the oxy. Don't suffer with the headache. I remember a saying: Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. lol.

And remember to stick FAST to that schedule, ok? God bless. And keep updating on your progress. I care. Hugs, Lee

It you cant quit on your own, you may want to go into Boston, there is a Dr. Kishore, he can help those who have become addicted to their pain pills , he has a home detox kit which prevents all the " sick " symptoms. I believe he is in Brookline and also In Weymouth. He also is gives the vivatrol shot which is supposed to stop your brain from craving opiates. He also has connections with other Drs that can help with pain with out opiates.
If you cant get to Boston , you may want to search for a suboxon Dr to help you " kick"!

To Leesa…thank you for helping me. I think I got this beat using your schedule. So far all I have is slight diarrhea in the morning and a headache at night. Next week I drop down ½ a pill, and so on. The only problem I have is that the pain from my car accident is starting to flare up. I hate to seek out a new pain management doctor, but I think I really do need one. I just hate to go back to pain killers, but if I need them to live comfortably, I guess I have to go back on them. It kinda feels good to have this crap out of my body, but the pain. Can I handle the pain?
I had to give up my favorite sport, mountain climbing. The only way I’ll be able to do that again is to get back on the pills…..what to do?!

Well, as you know, I'm in recovery ~ and I'm also a chronic pain patient. There is NO WAY I can even WALK without pain medications. My whole spine has pretty much collapsed due to all kinds of problems and the pain is agonizing, even WITH meds. I've been on meds since 1995 - and I've been in recovery since 1993.

Can I still keep my original recovery date?? YES, because I only take the meds for the reason prescribed and i take ONLY THE AMOUNT prescribed. I've NEVER taken more than I'm supposed to. I've talked this over with my Home group and with my sponsor and they all agree that I can keep my original sobriety date because I need the meds to basically 'survive.'

You can do this too if you are diligent about how you take your meds - and don't get high on them or abuse them. You have to want sobriety more than anything else ~ and I did!! :p I'd had enough of that horrible life, of withdrawals and being 'drunk.' I figured one day I'd go too far and that would be that ~ I'd be dead!

Spinal pain is one of the worst things in the world if you ask me. i've had to deal with it for 25 years now, and I'm getting mighty tired. LOL  But I thank God we have meds to help. If you feel you do need pain meds to function, then see the pain doc. If you think you can make it thru with over-the-counter pain relievers ~ use them instead. God bless, and keep me posted. Hugs, Lee :D

My problem is that I had a car accident back on 1/25/00 and almost died from it. I broke my R/shoulder, R/pelvic bone, R/knee/ R/ankle, tore my right bicep muscle and had major c-spine damage from c-2 down to (I think c-5). It’s amazing I even recovered so well. That was when I lived in NYC. I moved up to NH about 9 years ago and had 2 shoulder operations. They didn’t work. So my ortho told me to seek a PM doc. Things were going great. I retired and took up hiking and mountain climbing. I was able to do all of this because of the pain meds. So I decided that I better get a new PM doc. I love my mountains and forests up here. I did get one. But I won’t be seeing him until sometime in Nov. or Dec. So I guess in the mean time, I’ll have to wean myself off the pain meds…bite the bullet until he see’s me, and hopefully my life will get back to the way it used to be.

I know I blew it by drinking the poppy tea. I feel like such a fool. “I AM A FOOL”! But trust me…it will never happen again!

God Bless You Leesa

Oh yeah…..I developed seizure disorder from the c-spine injury. It’s under control though.

“Some accident, huh”? :Bang-Head:

Jeepers!!! You ARE lucky to be alive!! God was WITH you in that vehicle ~ I hope you know that! And He's been walking with you ever since!

He obviously has something he wants you to do 'down here.' You've got to figure out what it is! Maybe he wants you to help other chronic pain patients ~ or other addicts. Whatever, you've got a purpose!!!

You'll get your life back the way it was ~ I have no doubt. You know your pitfalls ~ and you know the hell that is waiting for you if you're not diligent.
One thing you have to remember is you are NOT the first or only one who has "relapsed." Almost everyone has done it once or twice - sometimes more often ~ the important thing is you got back to where you SHOULD be, and hopefully this is where you'll stay!

Since God spent an awful lot of time on you ~ don't disappoint Him. LOL Hugs, Lee :D

I am cutting down. I'm on more then half of what I was taking, but the pain from my car accident is back. I found a new PM doc. I just have to wait now to see if he's gonna take me. I'm in so much pain! I'm a person who DOES need pain meds, I just scewed up by drinking that poppy pod tea. I should have known better. I blame only myself.
