Hello all.
My name is Sarge and just wanted to take the opportunity to intro myself into the group. I will be brief in this first posting. For 50 years (ages 26 - 66) with only occasional cold-turkey cleaning-out breaks, I had some level of alcohol flow in my bloodstream DAILY. Approx. 2 1/2 -3 years ago I started to notice a chronic numbing of my toes that was unaccountable to any physical stimulus. Upon sufficient Google research, I self-diagnosed what I suspected to be the beginnings of Alcoholic Neuropathy. However, with a few friends really suffering from the effects of Diabetic N, by comparison my condition seemed liveable enough to "sweep it under the rug" so to speak--and continue, even increase my level of consumption, ultimately leading to an advanced stage AN that came within 3/32nds of an inch of requiring the amputation of my right foot due to a very large Necrotic Ulcer that in my degree of numbness by that point was undetectable to me. Time (or lack of it right now) forces me to defer a much more complete history of the account of my irresponsibly self-inflicted predicament to a later date--but will follow through and look forward to shared discourse with fellow members. Be well, Sarge |
