Just wanted to throw this out here....
I am asking my psych doctor to prescribe a medication to help decrease urges and lead to less consumed alcohol. It is a gradual decrease in drinking. The action of the drug is to remove the chemical high from drinking. you take 50mg of naltrexone one hour before drinking and it helps you from drinking too much. It is called the sinclair method TSM.
I understand that it does have potential side effects...need to check liver function tests and 10% chance for nausea.
there are other side effects too..... but I am willing to try this.
My binge drinking is getting worse.
Usually I am able to have periods of abstinence if I decide to abstain...now it doesn't seem that I can go 2 days with out drinking and usually too much.
I seem to have less control over my alcohol usage.
