Default Effexor Withdrawl

Yes! I am going thru it. This is the last step to getting off of it! This morning I got up and forgot my pill. After a while I realized it and noticed that I was doing OK. Right now I am a little lightheaded and my face is a little numb but I am going for it. No time like the present!!! I am going to get my Zen relaxation CD out and get mellow. Saffire keeps my days busy and I am sure that will help as well! Wish me luck!

Update! I could not too it! By the end of the 2nd day I was an emotional mess. I started my effexor again and plan on in the new year trying again.
I think once the whole court thing with Saffy is all done in November it will help to clear my head.
I found it very difficult to focus and I do not want Saffire to suffer in any way so I will wait untill a better time and do it under docs care!

Dorrie I am kind of new here, I was wondering if you are titrated down as far as you can go and were finally ready to quit or if you were just jumping off the wagon.

Hi Christina!! I have been cutting down for the last year or so. This time I just decided one day "I can do it."
I should have got my doctors assistance in weaning down some more. I really beleive that I do not need the pills anymore but I do have some stress in my life right now regarding keeping custody of our granddaughter so I think I will put quitting it off untill the new year when the court case is over.

Are you taking effexor Christina? It is such a good antidepressant but to come off of it is a nightmare!!

I'm sorry it didn't happen for you this time Dorrie, but I'm sure it will happen. You know that every single one of us will be with you when you give it that next try.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your post to me explaining the problems you've had with this medication. Had I not posted on the site that I was about to start taking them, I'd not have heard about all these issues that others have with these pills.

I've not even opened the box that my doctor ordered for me but I told her that I'd decided not to take them because I was concerned about the side effects. She told me that people don't have side effects, nor do they have problems coming off Effexor!

I don't believe I need them now anyway but if I thought I did, I'd be asking her to prescribe something different.

Sending you hugs and letting you know that we understand!

Oh Anne! I am so glad that you decided against them!
My Hubby expressed concern when I first started them as he had read up on the severity of the withdrawl. My doctor was like yours....oh no there are no side effects and he said they would not cause weight gain. 50 pounds later he still says I gained because the pills made me happier and happy people eat!!! That is ridiculous!!
I am trying to find a different doctor...he is the same one who told me 10 years ago I was wel on my way to RA and recently said I was not...he did not recall saying that.. and he forgot recently when he filled our my mammogram forms that I have a lump in my breast. I need a doc that will make me important and for that 15 minutes we have I want him to refresh himself about me....listen and take me seriously and help me.....he is just not doing it for me. I am rambling!!!

Back to you Anne....Thank God you waited!!
By the way...congrats again on that 1 year off smoking birthday!!
