Smile Pastoral/Primal diet & lifestyle for allergy relief

I was having very bad reactions to the pollen one spring, and decided, about four years ago, to stop eating any gluten grains. I had already been off of packaged/prepared/refined foods, and sugars/sweets for ten years. Going off the gluten grains helped, but didn't get rid of the symptoms.

Six months ago, I went on a Pastoral (Lacto-Paleo) diet, due to Dr. Kurt Harris' "Get Started" list, and studying his website.

I stopped eating all grains, legumes, nuts/seeds and their oils, and reduced the fruit intake. Again, I noticed almost immediate improvement in many things: bones stopped hurting, better flexibility, increased calmness and poise, to name a few.

I, then, read Dr. Richard Bernstein's, The Diabetes Solution, to see if would be of use to someone I know, and found it made so much sense, that I decided to eat a very low carb diet, and to stop eating sweet fruits. (I use lemons, cucumbers, olives, berries, etc.) I have enjoyed how much better I feel. I reduced the carbs to fewer than 20 per day, and found that suits me very well.

I also avoid chemical fragrances. I make my own soaps, for grooming, laundry, cleaning, etc., and use nothing that has any smells at all. That resolved some odd skin reactions.

I'm interested in reading what others have found useful, either in avoiding, or adding something which helps.

Hope to see some others in this forum.

In other areas (conditions) here folks are talking about similar diets.

I'm doing something like the diet in the book Primal Blueprint.

I'm not familiar with eating 20 grams of carbs or less. That seems kinda low.

However, if you are feeling better....that is a great sign.

For me, I have found giving up dairy and greatly reducing grains to help me lose weight and give me more energy.

I use coconut milk instread of dairy milk and enjoy the taste.

Are you able to eat any fruit at all? I'm thinking of sticking to berries primarily.

vowel lady, I'm also following the primal blueprint. Very interesting read, can't go back to standard western diet anymore.
I eat occasional fruit and dairy, and even less frequently I'll have sweet potato, and a bite of basmati rice. But mostly focus on high protein, veges.
