So far, knock on wood, I've not had to cut my grass. Unless I get an ATV type chair or scooter that can help me, I have my lawn mowed. I keep the house closed up while the lawn is cut and afterward.
There is also something else that floats about airborne that sets off a reaction. I'm not sure what it is, though. I suspect it might be hay. I'm in a rural area where alfalfa and hay are harvested. What's the "killer" is the loss of my eyelashes; they fall out when the allergies are this bad. I guess it's better they all fall out rather than having just a few. I prefer having none... since it's easier than having only a couple. That seems to draw more attention from "strangers." |
I had floniase and it did nothing for me either. :p I definitely feel it when they get the grass done here. I think the singular is working good for Jackie though. So that's good news. :D

hmmmm
seems Flonase is not very highly regarded then by those who have tried it? my son refuses to even try it as he is so afraid it will trigger more tics etc so far he seems to be ok with the saline spray, Bach's and 24/7 Hepa filters and A/C we REALLY need rain here in central Florida. i have lived here since 1991 and have not experienced a drought like this before, with this much pollen everywhere I wonder if this very disturbing news of the disappearing bee colonies is also having an impact on the high pollen levels all around the country this year? Guess it must be! http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/story?id=2999495&page=1  |
I saw saline nasal spray for the first time today at Walgreens, I am glad to have gotten a heads up on it from you Chemar, thank you for sharing that tidbit with me. ;) I am going to pick it up next time I am out, didn't have time today or I would have, had to rush off to an outing at the local high school for my son. :)

Very interesting thread.
Allergies and asthma. Are things I have to deal with. I use nasonex for allergies. And I use advair and xopenex hfa now. I used asmanex at first for almost 6 months it didn't work as well as it should. I'm allergic to dust mites, mold and ragweed. I'm having trouble with my allergy shots, that I've been taking for almost 6 months. Donna |

I take Singular, Allegra-D, Advare, and Albuteral for my allergies and asthma.
Wish |
I take Allegra D, works well, but then I use a nasal steroid spray (Nasonex) during my worst time which is ragweed season. I also have a eye drop Patanol that I love

A old trick from my ancestors and elders is just to flush the nose out with warm water.
Up here in Alaska, the rural community used what we had on hand to combat allergies, and my grandmother would stick my head over a pot with slow boiling chamomile tea in it and put a towel over my head. I would get either the nose/sinus flush two times per day (bad pollen season) or a face steam once a day...I see nowadays the stores actually have a teapot looking like device that would flush out the nose and sinus'. great advice there Kim
My dad always made his own saline nasal spray and the vaporizer method is very popular with our family. |
