Default Allergies to medication?

Earlier this year I was prescribed propranolol for anxiety and it gave me a skin rash and bad allergy problems. I've been dealing with that for months now. I was back on Ritalin which I've taken for 5 years of my life and now it seems like I'm Having an allergic reaction to the Ritalin? Getting similar symptoms as the propranolol. That can't be possible though because I've never been allergic to it before. I have to take this medication because it drastically helps my life. Help!
