UPDATE: Nick Huber, whose battle with Lou Gehrig's disease was the focus of a Des Moines Sunday Register story earlier this year, is stepping down as sports information director at Buena Vista University.

Huber, 27, will be replaced on July 23 by Steven Phelps, formerly the sports information director at Grinnell College and a 2005 Buena Vista graduate.

"I have no plans in returning," Huber wrote the Sunday Register in an e-mail. "My condition has significantly gotten worse since when I saw you (in January)."

Huber is working on a book and will continue to post updates on his blog at www.nickannstreet.com.
