Benefit garage sale for policeman

July 18, 2007

The Monmouth-Independence Benefit Garage Sale for the Roger Lloyd Family Fund will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 29 and July 30 at the Old Crider's Annex building, next to the Sing Fay Restaurant, 198 W. Main St., Monmouth.

People can bring donate used or unneeded items for the sale to that site.

The sale benefits Independence Police Detective Roger Lloyd, who has been diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease.

Lloyd was the on-site police officer at Central High School and Talmadge Middle School.

Funds raised by the garage sale will go toward the purchase of a handicap van, modifications to the family's bathrooms and other items.

Cash donations may be made to the Sterling Savings Bank, 302 S. Main, Independence.

For information about donating to the garage sale and the sale itself, call Christy Bemrose at (971) 506-4845.
