Longtime Breck building inspector Jerry Booth is battling serious illness
DAILY NEWS STAFF REPORT July 29, 2007 Comments Print Email Jerry Booth, a well-known former Breckenridge town building inspector, was recently diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease, or ALS. Friends are calling on the community to help one of their own in his greatest time of need. Booth lived in Breckenridge for more than 30 years. He was also a subcontractor in the building industry for many years. He was contracted with the Town of Breckenridge in the late 1980s as the town building inspector, a job which brought him in contact with many, many people. Breckenridge locals fondly remember Jerry dyeing his long, white ponytail green on St. Patrick's Day, and he was often seen at Shamus O'Toole's Roadhouse Saloon on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Booth retired and left Breckenridge in May 2002, retreating to Lebanon, Neb., where he was able to continue his passion for hunting and fishing. He has traveled extensively with his sister, Barb, and her husband, Mike Wray. He has continued to take many hunting and fishing expeditions with his buddies from Breckenridge. Booth's disease is progressing quickly, and the need for help is immediate. Jerry has lost his voice, but a simple way to help would be to send cards wishing him well. You may send cards to: Jerry Booth c/o Barb Wray, 6676 N. Hillside Way, Parker, CO, 80134. Monetary contributions are being accepted at Millennium Bank, 100 S. Main Street, P.O. Box 6520, Breckenridge, CO, 80424. Be sure to mention that the contribution is for Jerry Booth. For years, Booth made sure buildings around town were being built "up to code." Now, the home where he currently lives also needs to be brought up to code. In addition, Booth also needs a new wheelchair, and a van that is wheelchair accessible. Please give what you can, and step up for a longtime Breckenridge local in need. http://www.summitdaily.com/article/2...90074/-1/rss07
