Heart Courageous Lynn’s 'walk' in her wheelchair

Courageous Lynn’s 'walk' in her wheelchair

£1,000 AND MOUNTING: Charford couple Lynn and Kevin Pee raised more than £1,000 for the Motor Neurone Disease charity. Ref: NT:04555
A 39-YEAR-OLD Bromsgrove woman suffering from Motor Neurone Disease raised over £1,000 for charity after she completed a sponsored walk in her wheelchair.

Lynn Pee was pushed by her husband, Kevin around the two-mile walk organised by the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Sponsors and pledges from her family and friends have topped £1,000 and are still being collected.

The walk, known as Walk to D'Feet MND', was one of many across the country, and took place in Redditch, recently.

Lynn's carers, John Hunt, 40, and Jane Hill, 51, used her mobile to text everyone in her phonebook to sponsor her.

Lynn, of Wintour Walk, Charford, returned from travelling the world alone four years ago and was diagnosed with the fatal illness.

Bloxwich-born Lynn used to work as an occupational therapist but now needs 24-hour care as she is unable to walk or move her arms.

She cannot swallow and is fed through a tube in her stomach. She is losing her ability to speak and she uses a ventilator to help her breathe.

Lynn and Kevin rely on the Motor Neurone Disease Association to help them with funding after Kevin, 40, gave up his job as a tool-setter to become a full-time carer.

The MND Association has provided funding for new carpets when their house was adapted to accommodate Lynn's condition.

Lynn and Kevin also received money towards car insurance for their wheelchair accessible car.

MND is a fatal illness that causes nerves and muscles to die, leaving the sufferer paralysed and unable to walk, talk or feed themselves.

The cause is unknown and there is no cure. Life expectancy is usually just two years.

The MND Association is a charity dependent on voluntary contributions.
