Question Searching Tardigrades for Lifesaving Secrets

Searching Tardigrades for Lifesaving Secrets

Searching Tardigrades for Lifesaving Secrets - The New York Times

Amyotophic Lateral Sclerosis is 'everywhere,' so, too, the Tardigrades. Could they be the cause or might they help find treatment(s) or cure for Guamanian ALS-PDC: The seeds of the cycad Cycas micronesica - The Pteropus, or Flying Fox consumes the seeds of the Cycas micronesica fruit; these seeds are known to be neurotoxic and were hypothesized to contribute to the Guamanian Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Parkinsonism Dementia complex in Guam among the Chamorro people; however, although similar syndrome is known to exist there, neither the fruit nor the 'flying fox' are known in the Kii peninsula.
