Florida PALS Advocates for ALS Registry Act on Radio
Posted by KimHymes <http://als.clinicahealth.com/~KimHymes> Wednesday November 7, 2007 at 01:16 PM Leon Peek, an active advocate and PALS from Florida has taken to the airwaves to continue pushing for the establishment of a national ALS registry. Having attended The ALS Association's Advocacy Day, Leon has met with Members of Congress in support of the ALS Registry Act and was recently interviewed by a local NPR affiliate to further raise awareness within his community and among elected officials about the importance of creating a national registry to give researchers the information needed to better understand ALS. Leon highlights the recent passage of the ALS Registry Act in the House of Representatives as the first step in enacting the bill into law, with the second hurdle being consideration by the Senate. As ALS Advocates, such as Leon, continue to contact their elected officials and broadcast the need for a national ALS registry on the radio and in newspapers, support for the ALS Registry Act continues to build. Thank you, Leon for your active advocacy and for giving a voice to all of those impacted by ALS. Leon's interview is expected to air statewide on Florida Public Radio this Friday, November 9 and may be broadcast for national airplay on NPR.
