Simplified Training Solutions Offers Pediatric, Adult and ALS Feeding Tube Training Packages

Triad - Simplified Training Solutions (STS)(www.simplifiedtraining.com), an interactive medical training company, announces the release of three versions of Nutritional Lifeline: The Feeding Tube Decision™, created by health and instructional media professionals. “Initially we focused on helping people with ALS, but soon also had requests from adults and parents who must decide about feeding tubes,” comments Jan Karn, RN, CEO of STS. In response to these requests for customized information, STS developed three different versions of the training materials – Pediatric, Adult and ALS. Medical professionals, homecare health providers, and persons who are candidates for a feeding tube will find these modular materials to be the most comprehensive information available today. Each version can be purchased on a DVD or downloaded from the company Web site (www.simplifiedtraining.com/homecare). Until June 1, 2008, the decision-making module is a FREE download for all three versions.
“We are making a portion of this important information available at no cost. There is a lack of comprehensive feeding tube information available except one-on-one with a trained health professional. Many people are overwhelmed when they first discuss this decision, and they need materials they can review at home with other family members in order to make an informed decision,” Karn explains. Each program is divided into modules so viewers can select what they want to know when they need to know it. Nutritional Lifeline: The Feeding Tube Decision™ includes video interviews, demonstrations and animations. The modules are: Decision-making (FREE download until June 1, 2008) Tube Insertion Care and Use of the Tube Tips (Pediatric version only) The DVDs are available in NTSC and PAL formats; the ALS version is already distributed in 5 countries. “The patients, families and healthcare providers we interviewed for these videos consistently identified the need for a comprehensive explanation of the process and what it will be like to have a feeding tube. Lack of information often delays the decision to have the surgery far longer than is medically wise,” Karn explains. “There is a critical need for a video explaining the importance of feeding tubes. This video does a wonderful job of addressing the emotional and procedural questions a person or a family will have when considering taking such a step,” states Sue Humphries, MSW, Patient & Family Services Coordinator, The ALS Association, Jim “Catfish” Hunter Chapter, Raleigh, NC. About Simplified Training Solutions Headquartered in Raleigh, NC, Simplified Training Solutions (STS) (www.simplifiedtraining.com), is a Raleigh-based multi-media training company.
