Project Description:

We are a new research group studying Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)using transgenic mice, rat, and primary cell culture models in conjunction with molecular and biochemical approaches and live-cell imaging. We invite applications from enthusiastic and motivated candidates wishing to complete Postdoctoral research in biological sciences with a focus on the molecular mechanisms of motor neuron degeneration in ALS. We are primarily focused on mitochondria, axonal trasnport, and the exploration of new genes in ALS.

We are a young, dynamic, bilingual group, and CIHR funded. A highly competent technician has already been hired and is foucsed on lab setup.

Qualifications:

We are looking for a motivated postdoc ideally with a background in cell biology, biochemistry, or neuroscience, or related area. Technical expertise in tissue culture is ideal. Experience of working with primary cells is desired.

Candidates will be expected to successfully apply for competitive awards.

Ideally, the post-doctoral fellow should have at least one major first author publication in a journal such as JBC, PNAS, JBC, MCB, etc.

Above all, candidates should be motivated and excited about science!
