Legislation
MPP in Congress MPP is leading the effort to convince the U.S. Congress to pass federal medical marijuana legislation, as well as to replace marijuana prohibition with a system of sensible regulation and control. MPP's biggest focus in Congress is building support for the Hinchey-Rohrabacher amendment, which would prevent the U.S. Justice Department (which includes the DEA) from spending any money to raid medical marijuana patients and providers in the 12 states where medical marijuana is legal. Use the links on the left to learn more about federal marijuana legislation, mandatory minimum sentences for marijuana crimes, and past battles in Congress. MPP in the States MPP also works for sensible marijuana policy at the state level, and our grassroots and lobbying campaigns have changed laws. MPP is currently lobbying for medical marijuana-related bills in state legislatures in California, Illinois, Minnesota, New York, and Rhode Island. MPP is also spearheading an effort to bring medical marijuana legislation to Michigan through the initiative process. MPP also monitors and analyzes all marijuana-related bills in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Use the pull-down menu on the right to choose your state, to learn about current marijuana-related legislation in your state or to contact your state legislators. Also, we invite you to review MPP's state-by-state guide to medical marijuana laws and MPP's model state medical marijuana legislation. http://www.mpp.org:80/legislation/
