Local Man to Raise Awareness of ALS by David Pint
KIMT News 3

Osage, IA - An area man is trying to raise awareness for ALS. Matt Williams was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis a few years ago.

The disease cuts off the brains communication with the body. It's causing Williams's to lose muscle in his upper body. Williams says even though he is losing muscle he still has to keep active.

"To be really active can hurt you and to be totally inactive can hurt you. So it's important to find the happy medium where you want to use your muscles but not over use them.''

In an effort to raise awareness for the disease the Muscular Dystrophy Association has put Matt on it's web page. Williams will be featured along with 30 others around nation who have ALS.
