Disabled Neighbor Helps Storm Victims
Sunday , May 18, 2008 video link http://www.newschannel5.tv/2008/5/18...-Storm-Victims Strong winds ripped through neighborhoods ALTON - Help has begun pouring in for victims of Friday's storm. Volunteers are going around the neighborhood helping out resident of Las Canas community, but there is one volunteer who stands out from the rest. Jimmy Morgan lives in Las Canas. He has Lou Gehrig's disease, a disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord and results in muscle weakness and atrophy. He was given only a few years to live, but despite his illness, Morgan considers himself one of the lucky ones. His home suffered only minor damage, so now he has made it his mission to help those who weren't as lucky. With his son by his side, Morgan got in his wheelchair and began helping out. He went down the neighborhood handing out food and supplies to those who lost everything. Money is tight for Morgan. But he says he know he has to do all he can to help his neighbors. http://www.newschannel5.tv/2008/5/18...-Storm-Victims
