The Allen home on Bray street was the gathering spot for more than 40 friends, neighbors, Boy Scouts, and co-workers Saturday morning.

Armed with paintbrushes, ladders, mosquito spray and lots of water, the group painted a sunny yellow on the home. The afternoon called for a second coat of paint and a little landscaping to help brighten the home of Debra, her mother and her son.

Debra Allen has ALS, also known as Lou Gehrigs disease. Her former Luther Jones Elementary co-workers, organized by Mary Lou Anzaldua and Jeanna Moravits, came together with their families to help with some much needed repairs.

"Debra is an inspiration to us, and this is something we can do for her," said Mary Lou Anzaldua, a fifth grade teacher at Jones Elementary.

The day ended with cake and ice cream for all and a special message from Debra, painstakingly typed on her computer, " I love it and I love you all! You are my angels, I am very blessed."
