Fundraiser for D.M. woman fighting ALS

A fundraiser will be held at 8:30 p.m. Sept. 27 for Missy Edwards, a south Des Moines woman who is fighting ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

Edwards, 27, is a Lincoln High School graduate. There is no cure for the highly progressive neuromuscular disease she was diagnosed with three years ago. Edwards is raising a 7-year-old son, Dexter.

The benefit, hosted by family and friends, will be at Traditions' Lounge at 1509 S. Ankeny Blvd. in Ankeny. Music will be provided by Mike Fonda.

Those who wish to donate but cannot attend may send a contribution to the fund "Missy's Hope" at Bank of the West, 4910 S.E. 14th St., Des Moines, IA 50320.
