A STANTON man is preparing to take a giant leap of faith to raise much needed funds into research for a cure for a disease which has affected his family.

Edward Aldridge, aged 25, is taking part in a skydive over Gloucestershire in October to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease. One member of his family died from the illness and now his grandmother has the disease.

The web manager is doing the dive with his friend Keith Baker and is also fundraising for their friend, Henry Scot-Simmonds, who desperately needs a bone marrow transplant.

Edward set a target of £800 but smashed it in two days and is now boosting the efforts of Keith’s fundraising for the Anthony Nolan Trust, which is seeking a bone marrow match for Henry.

Edward said: “One member of my family has died from Motor Neurone disease and now my grandmother also has it. It is a terrible illness and there is always a huge need for money to fund research into finding a cure.

“I was thrilled to raise my target in just two days, and so it seemed obvious to also help my co-skydiver Mark. We hope it will inspire others in the future.”

The sky dive will take place in South Cerney in Cirencester on Saturday, October 18.
