More Should Be Done About MND - Tassotti
Milan assistant coach Mauro Tassotti has spoken about Motor Neurone Disease and he believes more should be done to find a cure for it after former Rossoneri star Stefano Borgonovo was diagnosed with the illness.

On Friday the Rossoneri and Fiorentina came together to plan and organise a charity match for Stefano Borgonovo, the former striker who played for both clubs but is now suffering from MND.

Tassotti has spoken about the illness and he was full of praise for Borgonovo who showed great courage to come out publicly and speak of the disease.

“We always knew about Stefano’s illness but he never wanted people to know about it,” Tassotti told the club’s official website.

“Now he has come out in the open to make everyone aware of the state he is in. He has shown great courage.

“It’s an illness which not many people know of and I am hoping that more research is done and that people continue talking about the subject but always being sensible about it at the same time.

“A foundation which helps towards funding for research is already in place and we have organised the charity match in Florence.”

The foundation Tassotti spoke about was founded by Borgonovo and all the proceeds from the charity match will go towards helping fund more research into the illness.

MND is a fatal disease which attacks the nerves which help control muscular movements in the body and it affects eating, breathing and eventually it will lead to death. Unfortunately there is currently no cure for the illness.
