One day he noticed something was wrong.
He went to Wake Medical for this twitch in his arm.
The doctor said, Mr. Koenig, you have ALS, or a.k.a., amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
He didn't want to hear it. He got more tests and more tests and more tests.
He was an emotional mess, a nervous wreck. The luck of life just missed him.
The problems that will occur, how can you list 'em? You can't list 'em.
You stay strong and gain wisdom.
That's just what he did but first he had to find a perfect time to tell his kids.
But when is there a perfect time to tell anyone this
with the thought of being dead, the thought of being missed.
For Donald Edward Koenig, a healthy life is what I wished.
Boy, do I wish but those cards aren't in his hands now.
Because there's no government funding, he'll have to take his final bow.
