People in the east who are living with Lou Gehrig’s Disease now have a place close by where they can get treatment.

Medical leaders from Pitt County Memorial Hospital had an official ribbon cutting ceremony today at the Regional Rehab Center at PCMH.

The clinic, named the Jim “Catfish” Hunter ALS clinic, will be one of only Four ALS clinics in North Carolina that will focus on several different issues.

The late “Catfish” Hunter was a North Carolina native and Major League Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher who died from ALS 1999.
