Default Canoe voyage ends at Fort William

Canoe voyage ends at Fort William
Tb News Source

Today marked the final strokes of a paddle through history for two young women, as they made their way to Fort William Historical park, the final leg of a 49-day canoe trip.

Anne-Marie Fortnier and Hellen Marcoux set out on a journey from Winnipeg on July 11, raising funds for ALS which is better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.

Fortnier says she paddled for her mother who was diagnosed with the fatal disease two years ago. The duo followed the traditional Grand Portage trade route, wrapping up their adventure earlier this week. Marcoux says the experience has been very rewarding.

Paddlequest for ALS raised close to $3,000. There will be a walk for ALS here in Thunder Bay on September 30 at the Slovak Legion.
