Fairway Outdoor Advertising Donates to the Jim 'Catfish' Hunter Chapter of the ALS Association
12-11-2008

Raleigh, N.C. – Fairway Outdoor Advertising has donated an advertising package worth $11,500 to the Jim “Catfish” Hunter Chapter of the ALS Association. A series of billboard posters and rotary bulletins began running in March in Wilmington, Greenville and Raleigh and continued through October. The announcement was made today by Paul Hickman, general manager of Fairway.

The billboards were used to promote the 2008 Walk To Defeat ALS, which raised money to fight ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Each year, more than 100,000 people including ALS patients, families, friends and corporate leaders join together to raise funds in support of the association’s cutting-edge research and community-based patient services programs. Now in its ninth year, approximately 150 Walks will be held around the country. This is the fourth year Fairway has helped to sponsor the annual event. Hunter was a North Carolina native and a Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher.

“We are delighted to take part in this cause,” said Hickman. “Fairway looks forward to continued work with the ALS Foundation. Hopefully their efforts will help to find a cure for this devastating disease.”
