ALS forces longtime radio host to retire in Minn.
Associated Press - December 12, 2008 1:14 PM ET ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) - Lou Gehrig's Disease is forcing a radio host to retire after 29 years on the air at WJON-AM in St. Cloud. He's Pastor Toby Horst and he's been the longtime host of "Word and Music," but ALS has taken it's toll on him and he's no longer able to do the program. Horst says he was diagnosed with the disease a few years ago. It has progressed in recent months and his wife has recently had to help him. "Word and Music" can be heard at 6:40 a.m. on Sundays. Horst's last program will air on Dec. 28. Information from: WJON-AM, http://www.wjon.com/ http://www.wkbt.com/Global/story.asp?S=9511741
