$15,000 donation to Cox foundation aids ALS patients
February 19, 2009

The CoxHealth Foundation has received a $15,000 donation from the 2008 Julian Golf Classic to benefit ALS patients and programs, Cox announced today.

The money will be used to buy equipment and provide assistance for people living with the progressive neurodegenerative disease.

Other recipients of funds from the 2008 tournament, which raised a total of $93,000, include the Skaggs Foundation, $15,000; and the Driving for Life ALS TDI Foundation, $25,000, the Cox news release said.

All donations will be used to help ALS patients in the southwest Missouri region, according to Cox.

The Julian Golf Classic honors the life of Jeff Julian, a PGA pro who was diagnosed with ALS and spent the final year of his life in the Springfield-Branson area receiving treatment at CoxHealth and Skaggs Regional Medical Center.

The 2009 tournament includes a dinner and silent auction Sept. 13 and golf Sept. 14, at the LedgeStone Championship Golf Course in StoneBridge.

All levels of sponsorship are available. For more information, call Tyler Watskey at Hawthorn Bank, 334-6474, or visit www.thejulian.org.
