Dying man's wheelchair stolen

28 March 2009 14:08

A Norfolk man with months to live has had his car containing his electric wheelchair - his only access to the outside world - stolen by thieves who broke into his home.

Ashley Wright, 42, from Fakenham, was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in October 2007 and told he could have just 18 months to two years to live.

The disease, a progressive neurological illness, gradually destroys the cells that control muscle activity, stopping use of arms, legs and finally breathing.

When Mr Wright, and his wife Louise, learned about his illness, they decided to buy him his dream car - an RS6 Avant Quattro Audi.
