Cheever Racing partners with online collectibles auction website GoMotorBids.com to offer race fans and collectors the chance to bid on one-of-a-kind racing memorabilia, benefiting ALS Charity.

Grandview, MO (PRWEB) September 21, 2006) -– Indy 500 Champion Eddie Cheever is parting with many treasures from his race shop in Indianapolis, Indiana, to raise funding and awareness for the Brian’s Wish Foundation. Simultaneously, he’s giving race fans the opportunity to own pieces of racing history and rare collectibles that have never before been made available to the general public.

Cheever Racing, who campaigns racing teams in both the IRL IndyCar Series and the Grand American Rolex Sports Car series, has teamed with the online collectibles auction website GoMotorBids.com to auction off one-of-a-kind pieces of race-used memorabilia such as team and driver uniforms which have been part of the Cheever Racing corporate collection for many years.

The net proceeds from all auctions will be donated to The Brian's Wish Foundation, which was established in honor of Brian Hall. Hall was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) at the age of 33, and succumbed to it in May of 2002. His final wish was to make the world more knowledgeable about ALS, and the effects the terminal disease has on the patient, family, caregivers and friends, and therefore to help provide more interest and funding for research facilities to find a cure for this terrible disease.

Hall was a huge fan of Indy Car Racing, and specifically of Eddie Cheever. Shortly after Cheever's Indy 500 victory, Hall was able to personally meet him, and the two became friends. At the same time, Cheever became an advocate for the Foundation. The entire Indy Racing League followed suit and the foundation has now been embraced by the majority of teams, who continue to show their support via fundraisers such as this auction.

“I never feel like we are doing enough to keep Brian’s dream of finding a cure for ALS moving forward. This auction is our way to keep the ball rolling and to encourage people to give. If we all do a little then we will be successful. I think that is the legacy that Brian wanted to leave with us,” Eddie Cheever said.

All of the Cheever Racing auctions will have a starting bid of $1, with no minimum reserve prices. In addition, each item will be accompanied by a special Certificate of Authenticity which is designed to counter forgeries.

“We were really overwhelmed by Cheever’s dedication to The Brian’s Wish Foundation,” said GoMotorBids.com marketing director Russ Dickey, “and we’re honored that he chose us as his official auction house in his mission to support it.”

This partnership marks the latest in a long list of high-profile racing organizations to partner with GoMotorBids.com in auctioning their unique items. For more information on the Cheever Racing auctions and to view the first batch of items up for bid, visit the homepage at www.GoMotorBids.com.
