What do you think caused your ALS?
In the intrest of finding a cure for ALS, I would like to pose a question to people that have been diagnosed with ALS. Based on your history, lifestyle, exposures, family background, what do you think caused you to be "catch" the disease? Keep in mind, that you don't have to right about your answer; the objective of this question is to get your gut feeling about what caused the disease in you so that maybe we can gain more insight into what causes the disease for everyone. tell what you think here at neurotalk

I believe that my ALS was caused by a back injury that compromised my spinal cord allowing heavy metals or a virus to enter.

I am a type A personality..there was nothing in my past that would indicate that I would get this. I woke up one morning with muscle pain and blew it off. After having the pain for a good month, a neuro said it was fibromyalgia. As things got worse and I became unable to walk normal, I went to a new neuro and after tons of tests he said I had ALS. For me it was just life happening.

My husband Aubrey's theory is that he "caught" ALS because of depression. That he had the potential for ALS, but that deep depression is what triggers it.

My husband was pressured into a flu shot October 12, 2012, and he was stumbling and slurring by December 2012. Our ALS doctor has said the vaccine triggered this awful disease. After the vaccine he noticed left hand weakness and when he tried to catch up to a coworker he noticed his fast walk was not fluid. Look up the ingredients adjutants that makes the immune system react to a vaccine. This is just 1 trigger that can cause ALS that researchers are looking into.

My symptoms started just after receiving allergy shots. Muscle twitching at sight of shot. Discontinued shots 6 months ago still have muscle twitching and progressive weakness.
