There is some evidence that Type 2 Diabetes may be a risk factor for AD but, because both are complex diseases, this is not yet clear Brain insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes and Alzheimer disease: concepts and conundrums. - PubMed - NCBI

Just heard a segment on NPR on getting good REM sleep to ward off dementia/alzheimers. I've known this and talk about sleep here and my good sleep and my mind health at 82.

The NPR people talked about reduction of amyloid plaque on the brain and there is a lot of info on this that Grape Seed Extract also supports. I've posted on this too.

And posted my sleep routine in the Sleep area here. Get that Deep SLEEP -- so critical.
