Default Genetics and AD

I thought that this paper was interesting.

It shows that neurons from people with AD use genetic recombination to produce many different forms of the gene which which codes for the protein (APP) which is converted to Abeta in AD

If confirmed it suggests new treatment options and may also be relevant to other disorders like Parkinson's Disease.

Thanks Lara.

Interesting, I had not seen it before. I think that not much poor quality work gets accepted in Neurology.

This then led to the discovery that looking at the ratio of amyloid-beta 42 and amyloid-beta 40 could identify whether or not somebody was forming amyloid plaques on their brain.

thank you!
