Default Caregivers-Support

Good morning to all. I know out there somewhere I am saying goodmorning to some very tired and sleepy people, but no rest for the weary again today.

I have been caregiver several times, but this caregiving today is the hardest I have ever tried to do. My MIL is now in a NH, we had to place her when she begun to need more help than I could possibly give her.

I tried, oh how I tried, but the disease will take the very life out of you. Hubby and I are still very involved with MIL's care, but we can go home and have a bit of respite before we take up where we left off.

I am talking to those that have a loved one still living in the home with you. When it's time to move the LO, it is not very easy to do. They don't have to be different on the outside, but if you observe closely day in and out you will know they need more care than a check every few days.

It's the little things that will jump up and bite you. I was lucky to find about a dozen people on line at MGH Chats. The sharing how we each tried to handle situations, how to get their meds. down them, a daily fight to keep them safe.

Also to keep yourself safe. MIL took an interest in knives, then progressed from there. You never lay it down, you sleep with one eye open as you would an infant.

My message to anybody that needs a place to lay some of these burden's down , come on by the Alzheimer's & Dementia forum. I am here most days and I do know others are by too.

The caregiver needs caring for also. We have a Caregivers forum too. If I can do anything, please call on me. I don't have all the answers, but I can listen and maybe we can help each other.

Feel free to post, maybe make that burden lighter.
my love, Jo
