OK, by now you've all heard my tale of woe. So far, two brain surgeries, three strokes, 4 seizures and I think maybe a couple of TIA's thrown in.

I used to be so athletic (a division one basketball player in college) and am now a wheelchair fencer, but the problem with that is I am always a beat or two behind. I see what is coming and the command to parry takes a circuitous route, if at all, to my arm. My question is, how did you learn to accept the "new" you? I am at the point where I am going totally buggy.
I am not allowed to drive now and it is amazing how poor thee services are. Some of the Door to Door services are only if you are a part of the program and the transit system only offers a discounted ride. You still have to get to the bus stop, which for me is a little over a mile. My limit seems to be about 2.

I joke about my condition, and I just learned my previosly stented, clipped and bypasses aneurysms are occluded (the bypass) and still growing. I hate to sound cliche', but really, unless you have been through it you have no idea what it's like.

I've run out of jokes. And does anybody even read these things?

Wow, I'm sorry, you have really been through the wringer and aren't done yet.

I wish I had some kind of advise to give but I have never been in any of those situations.

Actually I was coming on to this page because the wife of one of the firemen on my husbands department just had an aneurysm and I was trying to see if I could find out anything to help her.

They were able to operate for her and it went well. I just don't know what to do to help her.

I had a sub arachnoid hemorrage (my spelling is off) almost two years years.
I am so familiar with what you experience. I too am unable to work any more. I use to teach but there is just no way that is posssible any more. For the most part I'm fine with all of. I try and remind myself of the things I can do and enjoy. There are still days when I don't feel great, and days when I get depresessed, but things could have been so much worse than they are. Fencing sounds like fun, my reflexes are very slow so I would never win but I'd probably have a good laugh at my own expense. I hope you feel better soon. Julie
