Smile New here, but not to aneurysms

Hi
My name is Ruthie
I suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm almost 4 years ago and it has forever changed my life, and how I view my life. I have met many friends along the way in different sites like this one. I hope to meet new people at this site also and give and recieve advise and moral support.
My aneurysm trouble is not over, I have 2 remaining aneurysms, one that is a residual from a clipping and another that is small and being monitered. I get these checked yearly and try not to let them run my life although I have had to make some lifestyle changes so I can reduce my risk of another rupture.
I worked as a nurse for 25 years prior to the rupture and have not returned. My quick thinking process and decision making has been compromised. Memory is not the same and I have trouble finding words and getting thoughts together when speaking to people. I get upset easily and frustruated when I can't get my thoughts right and the docs say it is the result of the bleed to my brain. Other then headaches and tiring easily I get along pretty good. I had met a wonderful group of aneurysm survivors and we comminicate through e-mail, so I'm hoping more of us join here, GPer is one of them.
It is good to be here,
Ruthie

Ruthie ... nice to meet you. I have a friend close to you, her name is also Ruth and she was a charge nurse. She's also a ruptured aneurysm survivor.

Ruthie,

Is good to see you on this site, and read your story. I know what its like living with untreated annies as I still have four tiny untreated aneurysms, like you, I have made the lifestyle changes, kept my BP low etc and have the regular monitoring, but it still bothers me at times that these four remain untreated.

Keep in touch

Heart Aneurysm surgery:More bad days than good

Hi pleased to meet you. I am new to the forum.
I am a nurse and aneurysm survivor, Right Mid Cerebral Artery that was clipped March 2009. I go through spurts of good days but these are far less than bad days. Bad days aren't horrid headaches just lots of anxiety, inability to concentrate on tasks at home. At work I feel mentally better as I concentrate on work rather than my health. But by the time I get home from work I am exhausted and don't want to do anything around home, cleaning and chores as the next day I will have a neck ache.
My life has changed so drastically. I used to run and loved to do yoga, headstands and deep bending poses were my favorites, can't do these anymore. Upper body strength is weak with neck pain if I over exert with house work like vacuuming.
I have to hire people to do outside work for me. I tried to shovel snow one day and thought I was going to stroke out, blood pressure went up and neck pain was severe.
The constant dull ringing in my ears makes it hard to get to sleep. I keep radio on to drowned out the dull ringing.
My appetite continues to be strange and many things don't appeal to me. Eating is a problem so I have to monitor myself to get enough protein and vegetable nutrients.
Life is just such a laborious task now that it does make it hard to keep happy. I live alone and find that is the worst as I hate being alone but I don't want to burden anyone. Took me over a year to stop being resentful for what happened to me.
Blessings to all aneurysm survivors!

Ruthie--

I'm sorry for what you've been through but an incredibly happy to hear how you've grown and recovered.

Your experience sounds very similar to what my mother went through nearly 10 years ago when I was in high school. She has extreme problems with memory, words, and at times emotional regulation i.e. getting very frustrated easily.

I think one of the hardest things for her is that she doesn't have anyone to talk with. She's not the type of person to reach out and find help, online or in person, and instead feels like there's something wrong with her.

Do you have any advice on how to help her get help?

You're in my thoughts and prayers, good luck!
