Hello All,

I am new to this Forms and looking for tips and suggestion on after Stoke recovery. My father was recently discharged from hospital after a week treatment (3 days ICU) for Cerebral haemorrhage. After the stoke he is paralysed on right side and now with the help of physiotherapist he is trying to do some exercises. He is able to speak and do some moments.

I am searching online for Cerebral haemorrhage recovery tips or suggestion. All the information I can find is about cause of stoke and treatment. But can really find information on recovery trips. I understand recovery varies from person to person and there mind stability. But it will be really great if someone can suggest tips and about kind of care should be taken or kind exercises to recover.

Please also suggest any site or blogs related to Cerebral haemorrhage.

Nice to meet you, and sorry that you have found this site under these circumstances.

I am not able to help you too much, other than to say that the brain is an amazing organ, and the recovery, although very slow can be surprising. If your dad is getting physiotherapy, then they will know the best way to help him to recover function.

You can probably help him by talking to him, encouraging him to do some word finding exercises (like simple find-a-words and easy crosswords) and by helping him with the physical exercises he has been given.

This is a scary time for you. Take everything slowly as he will probable be incredibly tired. I have heard that the blood reabsorption is irritating like sandpaper to sensitive brain tissue. I have also read that it can take more than two years before maximum recovery is made.

Just be there to help him as much as you can (ask his physio if there are things you can do with him) and to love him. It is a long road, and I wish you and your dad all the best with it. Keep in touch and tell us how he is going.

Hi Soma,
I had a hemorrhage back in 1996 when I was 36. Both sides of my body were damaged, my paralysis is only to the right side of my face however. I was in the hospital for quite a while, and then I went to the rehab hospital.
How old is your dad, and what's his activity level? Can he walk? Much of the stuff I'd recommend would depend on that.

Hello Soma,

So sorry for what has happened to you and your father.
My mother sadly passed with just one hemorrage.
It is a condition that I have been diagnosed.
The good news I have is my aunt also suffers this condition and she had 3 in space of 5 days and she is now walking , talking and practically the same before , it just takes time. She is getting physio and taking every day as it comes.
I hope your father recovers soon and he will , it just takes time
