Confused Help, please!

Hi-

I had a clipping last year for an aneurysm. Have any of you had to take antibiotics before dental procedures, especially root canals, because of the clip?

I will be having this procedure Monday. Thanks in advance for your help!

I had my annie clipped in March and developed some serious gum problems due to my Dilantin. I had heard that some neurosurgeons want their patients to use antibiotics before any dental care so I called my doctor's nurse. She told me it wasn't necessary. I'd check with your surgeons office to see what they recommend.

I had my annie clipped six years ago and do not take antibiotics b4 a dentist appointment. I did, however, have a problem with my jaw following surgery and needed an MRI. If I hadn't taken my surgery records with me they would not have done the MRI. I contacted my surgeon and had them send a business card with the date of surgery and types of clips used and I show that whenever a question arises. I also have a card from Central Iowa Blood Bank specifying that my own tissue was used for the graft instead of a cadavar so now I can donate blood. So strange things do pop up when you have something major done. Katie
