Hello,

My Mother had a cerebral hemorrage on Monday, Apr 30. She had 5aneurysms, 3 of which were operable.

She had the surgery to have them clipped on Thursday (I think) at Emory Univ. Hospital. She is doing okay.

I'm kind of in the twilight zone so some of the dates might be mixed up.

Taking it really slow. I want to be positive but not overly optimistic because we still have a long way to go.

Hello Greenie....I want to first welcome you to this forum where I'm sure you will find like mind fellow sufferers and caregivers for such.
I'm so sorry that your mother has suffered such a catastrophic event.
Yes...it will feel like a "Twi-light" zone that you're in seeing your loved one laying under all those tubes, wires, monitors and all that goes with life support.
My heart aches for you as I remember back when my own mother had brain surgery for what was thought to be an anny but was not.
I was worried sick watching her fluctuating blood pressure, consults with vast array of doctors who were resoponsible for every lifes function, and mostly seeing her in a drug induced "coma".
The only thing you can do is keep yourself from becoming overly anxious, as it will only lower your immune system. She will need you soon, I pray.

If you beleive in a higher power, you can only put your mother into their hands and rest assured that you will make it thru this trial.
There is much power in prayer even for non-beleivers.
I do wish you well...keep in touch and let us know how she is doing.
I'm sure someone here who is more knowledgable with annuerisms will be posting soon.

Hi Greenie,
I was lucky enough to have my aneursyms found before rupture. I had one clipped in March and have one they say is too risky to address. I realize how tramatic a rupture is. My heart goes out to you and your mother. I know the stress must be terrible. It is so nice that she can have you there for support. My best wishes for you both.

Thank you for all the kind words. An update on my Mom.

She has had her trach taken out (as of Wed, Jun 6) and has been given provigil to keep her awake. The provigil is working and it's keeping her awake. This might help her get her days and nights back into order.

I also brought her glasses in and that has helped a lot too. She's progressing and that's great. It's only been 6 weeks and she's starting to come around, but slowly.

They are trying to get her into an acute rehab nearer to my house. I hope that works.

Hi Greenie,

Hang in there; I suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm two years ago at an airport...was a very long way back, but stay positive...there's always hope. Family support makes a huge difference, so be there for her...while it may now show, it does make a difference.
