Default simple question (i think)

I got MRI results back Friday morning- there is a 6mm spot in my brain that is possibly an aneurysm. I go this coming Thursday (4 days from now) for a more specific MRI to determine for sure if that's what it is.

Am I in danger in the meantime? I mean, obviously if it IS an aneurysm, there is danger... But how much? Should I avoid things like sex or exercise? I can't find anything on the internet about the waiting time in between!

I might mention I'm a professional worrier.

Thanks.

Hi,
Please email me with any questions you have. I had an annie clipped in March. Hope you are holding up okay. It's such a shock when you find out about an aneursym. Tried sending a email. Hope it went through.

Hi Queen -

Sorry so long for a reply but I'm kinda new here and didn't know about this forum.

I've been living with an abdominal aortic aneurysm for at least 4 years now. It's stable. I had an ascending aortic dissection patched 4 years ago (aorta tore where it comes out of the heart).

Hi! I was diagnosed with a 1 cm anneurysm six years ago. The doctor told me that I had about a 1-2% chance of rupture during the next year. He gave me the option to wait or have surgery. I decided on surgery but had planned a two week trip to Washington DC with my mother-in-law. The surgeon told me to go and have fun. I did and two months later had it clipped. There was no way that I was going to "wait and see" and not have surgery. My surgeon also told me that I could have had the annie a long time and nothing had happened. Be thankful that it's been found!!! Go out and do something fun!!! The waiting seems to be the hardest thing to do.
Make up a list of questions that you have before your dr. visit and make sure you are comfortable with his/her answers. Try to relax as much as you can.
My prayers are with you. Katie

Default Hi Katie

I also had a 6 mm aneurysm diagnosed in beginning of March 2008...Had
stent and coils done. The hardest thing for me was the stress and anxiety
Percentage of rupture was very low......but couldn;t stop worrying about it.
I had the option of either clipping..coiling with stent...or watch for growth. Dr felt coiling was my best option. I had the procedure done on April 8,2008 and
happy to say I feel great.....even went back to work after 2 weeks. I guess that any decision you make will be the right one for you.

My prayers are with you...Good Luck

Diane

Default My question is...

Were you having headaches in a particular area that made them suspect and do the MRI? Did they do a special MRI or can they spot an anurysm (sp?) in any MRI they do? My dad had an anurysm and I have been worried because I have headaches in the same spot he did. My doctors tell me not to worry... but I do worry anyway.

I hope you get some information that is helpful to you. You are in my thoughts and prayers!

Don't know if you are replying to original thread or what but I can tell you that I had unusual headaches..... was told by my primary dr to see a neurologist. Headaches weren't bad just annoying sometimes worse then
others. Neurologist sent me for mri/mra scan and other tests.
Aneurysm was found incidently. but thank goodness it was found

unruptured aneurysm stented and coiled April 8,2008....

I was warned not to let my blood pressure elevate, not to life anything over ten lbs, because this causes strain on the blood vessels in the brain. Everyone told me not to bend over ans let blood rush to my head either. I have followed these guidelines. My first aneurysm was coiled in July, my second one , we are watching, and yesterday I found out I have a third, but it is only 2.2mm. I hope this helps
