I had a 12 mm annie coiled in July 2008,the day after surgery I had a Atrial-Vib, which kept me down for about 5 hours, and kind of feeling out of it, prior to that I was doing great. Due to the A-fib, I am on coumidin and was sent to a heart doctor, the nuclear stress test and echocardiagram came out fine, but the heart doctor still has me taking the coumidin for three months after the episode (A-Fib) he says this is standard practice. The coiling has done well, no problems at all. But the brain surgeon that did the coiling say no lifting over 10 lbs, and nor raising of heart rate or blood pressure. Does anyone know if normal exercise can ever be done after an aneurysm is repaired?

Hi Nancy0708 -
From everything I've read about other peoples experience in time you can return to regular exercise. I would imagine that everyone is different though. You sound like a active and upbeat kind of person and I'm venturing that your perspecitive towards what you've experienced has helped you tremendously. wishing you well. |

Hi italian, welcome to NT!
![]() Ok, first up you need to take a few deep breaths and calm down a little - high blood pressure is our enemy! I know just how scary and frightening finding out you have an aneurysm is, but you can't let the fear overwhelm you. I have a 7.5mm aneurysm on the left middle cerebral artery which my NS also won't touch unless it becomes unstable. They found mine 18 months ago incedentally, and have had it monitored ever since. In fact my next CTA is this Tuesday! Has your doctor suggested anything, like keeping an eye on it to make sure it doesn't grow? I know this is really hard for you at the moment, but it DOES get easier to live with as time goes on. I remember at first I was terrified of even sneezing for fear my head would blow up! Hehehe. If you have any questions, please ask - we're here for you on this journey. Take care. |

I had a fusiform basilar artery annie stented in December of 2005 and 6 moths later I was fencing in the Summer National Championships and in 2007 I had a full cranitomy because not only was the old one getting bigger but also there was a new one. So they clipped the new one and 12 months later I was fencing in the championships again.
They just discovered both of them are growing again and they are going to let me fence so I would say exercise is primo.
