Default clipping question

How often after a clipping has been done are people supposed to have them checked? And why do they have to be re-checked? Is a CT scan w/ dye the same as an angiogram? My clip was done 10+ yrs ago, so MRI's are no good for me.
Thanks!

P.S. My clip was for an AVM

Hi flopper, I had two aneurysms that were clipped back in 1982. The one that ruptured was on the carotid artery and the second one was discovered during the surgery. My neurosurgeon told hubby it was a big surprise to have found the second one because that one didn't show up on the angiograms. They were both clipped successfully, and I've only had one angiogram performed since then because of some disturbing symptoms I was experiencing. The results came back showing the clips were still in place and that was quite a relief to know. I can't have MRI's either because my clips are metal. It still causes some worry even today when I have a super bad headache. My aneurysms are located at the base of the cerebrum.

Good luck to you and I hope you never have a problem with yours.
