Default Thyroid

Hi, I am new to this forum, and looking for some answers.

My relative was recently diagnosed with a brain aneurysm, and has had and is required to have many CT angiograms of the head, using contrast.

However, she also has 3 large nodules in her thyroid. We are worried about the effect that the radiation from numerous CT angiograms of the aneurysm will have on her thyroid, for example, by making the nodules grow or become cancerous. After her last CT angiogram, she had quite a lot of throat pain.

Has anyone experienced any thyroid problems after having so many tests for their aneurysm?

HI
I had a rupture and clipping 4 years ago, had 5 cerebral angeograms total and numerous CT scans and x-rays since then and will have to continue to have since I have small aneurysms remaining. I have developed a condition called Hashiomoto's Thyroiditis, which is an autoimmune condition that causes the thyroid to not function properly, I don't know if this was caused by all the radiation I have had in the last 4 years, but I wouldn't be surprised if it contributed to it in some way. I can't take the thyroid suppliment to help this condition since it bumps up my heart rate and BP. I'm in the process of doc visits to see what else I can do for this,

I have never had an anuersym but I have had thryoid issues. Had Hashimotos and a thyrotoxic condition (they could not control it) so we took it out.

Make sure they do a calcitonin test. Blood test. That test is an indicator of whether there is a predispoition for thryoid cancer I believe.

They will also want to biopsy the nodules. Not too painful and over in 5-6 minutes.

Good luck.
